Promised lower prices than the food lion that used to be there, mayb the first week which my first trip was very expensive since most of the sales were snacks and baked goods right in front for my kids to see immediately. Which normally they each get to pick one but only after behaving through out the shopping trip. Some sale items force you to buy a set amount to get that price and on a budget that doesn't work for every1, I can't buy soda here most of the time bc you have to get 3 or 4 12 packs to not have to pay almost $6 each, I don't keep that much soda in my home, the more we have the faster it gets drank and then my family isnt getting other drinks that are better for them and I have just spent $12- $15 of our food money on soda :( Might not sound like much but every week it adds up. Alot of products such as "fresh meats" are very high priced and not very good quality, the butcher didn't understand at first when I asked for tenderized pork steaks, some call minute steaks or cube steak until I showed him a pack of the beef ones then couldn't or wouldn't run them through the tenderizer for me, the center cut pork chops are thick and tough so I drive 20 minutes away to sav a lot in WV where the butcher is more than happy to tenderize my pork and cut thinner chops for me. So far alot of the store brands I havent been pleased with at all and some of our regular items are no longer available even after requesting them. I don't think they realize they are our local grocery store n if they don't soon, their big chain isn't gonna make it in our small town. I really wouldn't give any stars but one is for one of the managers that stayed and she's wonderful, words can't describe how great she really is, she's dedicated to her job and her customers and will do what she feels necessary to resolve any problems you may have and few of employees that stayed and some of the new ones are very friendly. The other star is just simply for the location to grab a quick loaf of bread or an unexpected, last minute dinner need. Not a good market for small children, someone decided small shopper carts that say customer in training was a good idea. This is dangerous, it causes my child to get upset if told no because I constantly have to make sure she's not going to hurt herself, other shoppers or knock over merchandise. I spend more time being irrated over the small shopping cart than I do shopping. It was alot easier to shop when my toddler was sitting in the regular cart, safely fastened in and in my direct sight, where she belongs or even when they had the car buggies, they kept her content, had safety belts and kept her with me.
